Sustainable Energy Commission meeting was called to order at 7:35pm by Chairperson, Dan Holmes.

Communications
- Voices: Oxford Middle School is replacing the roof with steel roofless solar panels.
Initially more expensive, but in the long run more cost beneficial to the town.
Commission should get information from Oxford to give insight &
background.
Tie into the mission of acquiring solar panels.
Augment approach to gain more support.

Acceptance of Minutes: March 18, 2010 & April 15, 2010
- Chairperson, Daniel Holmes, motioned to review & accept both sets of minutes.
- All Commission Members motion to accept.
Business
Received about a dozen sign-ups.
Pat Llodra still feels Commission is not reaching the community enough as
far as promoting sign-ups for sustainable energy.
Target business community.
Desiree Galassi is working on a Power Point Presentation.

Picture of Commission
Should put a picture of an old/new bill to show the difference between the
two.
Reference the website.
Q & A in Power Point for help & direction to provide generic information
Communicated with the PTA and Commission can set up a night to
present the Power Point and additional information.
Open invitation to all schools in the area.
Need to start communication with the schools now or have to wait until
school starts up again in August/September.
Try to get First Selectman & State Representative to participate in event
to show that this is a town wide mission & town is working on this
collectively.
Present to Chamber of Commerce, Senior Center, Lion’s Club, etc.
Ben Roberts reviewed contracts.
Technical Consultant to help town chose an energy provider.

$20,000 Grant
Contacted Gas Company
Identifying consultants & technology for converting fleet over to natural
gas.
Joint public/private fueling station.
Need a private partner to get into that type of business.
Infrastructure:
Conversion of existing vehicles & heavy equipment is crucial.
Cost, plan, solutions.
Hydro
Commission needs to promote for more sustainable energy sign-ups.
Mailers in tax bills are key.
Advertising.
Household Hazardous Waste Day

At the beginning during registration hand out paperwork for people to
look over while they wait, and then have a booth at the end for collection
& any questions that need to be answered.
Table set up @ the Rooster Run
Vital to get information set up for mailers.
Printing Cost
Target statement & website are more important.
Small
June 14 is anticipated date tax bills will be sent out to Quality Data for
printing.
Need to have mailer complete and submitted by June 1.
Attract people to the website.

- The Sustainable Energy Commission will meet again on, June 17, 2010 @ 7:30pm in the shared meeting room next to the First Selectman’s Office.
